Violent sonnet

November 27, 2020

She speaks a violent sonnet
Whos words lash and thrash me
Hard and fast and angry
Like the mumbling of virtue
‘Give me heavenly hurt’ she makes me say
With the drag of her cigarette
she's finishes that haggard air
And presses those consummate embers into my skin
Till my screams and pleas turn to ashes in her mouth
‘Please’ I cry
My easy words falling like honey onto the floor
Still agog with my tortuous angel who stand before me
she bends down
Holds my face in her hands
Wipes the tears and sweat from my brow
And whispers soft
‘How can I ?’
