Message from Writer

Sometimes I tell stories. Most of the time I rattle my soul until I break and my heart spills out onto the page.

"I cannot jump the distance. You'll have to toss me!"--Gimli, LOTR

I am a complete nerd. I got the Ring of Power for my birthday.

Book recommendations:
The Oath--Frank E. Peretti
Lord of the Rings--J.R.R. Tolkien

Song recommendation: "Awake" by Beckah Shae

I'm going to meet the King someday!
And I'm super pumped!

i.
watch new life spill itself into your palms
innocence bright as embers burning between
your fingers and in your eyes the flames
rise higher like waves tsunamis you will
overtake the world with your good but soon
all your beauty and life and goodness is
extinguished when you wrap your fingers
around the fruit and call it knowledge
knowledge of good and evil to be like God
you crumble into a valley of dry bones
bound for fire to remind you of what you’ve lost
or perhaps given up without remorse

ii.
watch the bethlehem star rise over the manger
a little town blessed with the birth of the
king of kings and maybe you’ll set yourself
in the fields among the lowly to receive the
voices of angels lifted in praise of the
holy one come to earth to die for his flock
glory to God in the highest and peace on
earth maybe there’s hope in the darkness
but death overshadows his coming friday
passes in ceaseless night and tremors
on sunday you go to lay roses but find the
grave is empty the are bonds shattered
and the Savior is risen he is risen indeed

iii.
watch his compassion bubble over you
transforming your heart from death to life
stone to flesh ashes to beauty sickness to
healing and you don’t fear the world as
you walk with him in white this is your
Redeemer who paid your ransom with
his blood and you bow not because of
fear but because of thankfulness and
because your joy overflows because of
him him him you are not your own
and day by day you wonder how his
love his mercy his grace came to be
showered on your poor wandering soul
i don't think there are any triggers in the footnotes, but you never know... seems like anything is triggering these days:
what can i say? i was in a mood today. was listening to christmas music and wretched radio (my favorite conservative podcast), and then saw the prompt... as a note, in part 2, you may notice i spent very little time on friday and skipped immediately to sunday. this was probably a mistake, as friday's events are obviously integral to the autobiography's major plot line, but i didn't know how to replicate that entire happening... if you know anything about the crucifixion, you'll know it is not exactly suited for poetry. still, i thought i would draw your attention to that particular event to remind us all of the extent our Savior had to go to in order to redeem us. what does this mean? 1.) we're very bad people, but 2.) Jesus is a very, very loving Savior.

on another note entirely, if you haven't already, i appreciate if you could check out of the two novel excerpts i posted recently; one is for the competition, the other is just for fun. both could use some feedback.
