"And I will show that nothing can happen more beautiful than death,
And I will thread a thread through my poems that time and event are compact,
And that all the things of the universe are perfect miracles, each as profound as any."

Listening Through The Static - To the one who will want to love me

October 26, 2020

Wait, before you declare your heart to be mine
It is not a gentle soul you are seeking
Beware of my soul, my overgrown heart,
They have been enough to chase people away
This that you seek, then, is not a solid love
For I do not yet know how to love you
No, these are the tentative steps of a child
Not yet learned to walk, unsure how to go on
This is the syncopated crashing of the waves, the beat
Of a clock that has been left unwound
If you fall in love with me you must be ready
To be my path and my guide, a hand for me to hold
And you must not turn away at the first sign of a storm
You must hold fast, and I'll hold fast for you
Loving me is not an easy thing to do.
Poem two in my collection "Listening Through The Static". I really hope you liked it! Let me know if you have any suggestions, what worked and what didn't, what you think I should change. :) Hope you're having a wonderful day!

I absolutely love your title! "listening through the static"... it makes me feel like i've been lucky enough to land on the radio station playing your lovely works (if that makes sense?) also, "You must hold fast, and I'll hold fast for you" I have heart eyes now. I absolutely love the way in which you write - as though you're truly talking in a cautious, sorta-scared, all-knowing, tired-of-life, way :)
Re: your comments literally MAKE MY DAY! you're honestly the sweetest :) i hope you have a wondrous day ahead of you <3
