girl of the underground soul, why are you always crying?

perhaps you torment those whom you envy
because they are just like you
gravity has a way of
blanketing the unaware like a fog
picking at the dirt beneath your fingernails
reveling in the scrape of metal on metal
flooding moonlight with something like night
but redder, redder and something angrier and

if you were to pick yourself up
who would hold you steady?
your eyes strain and choke under the weight
of your tear-stained skin
but to wipe those tears away would be an act
of self-sabotage, no, you must keep crying
if not for them, then for yourself

I wrote this while upset and crying, so. I guess this is what happens when I try to write while I'm not mentally okay? Yep.

can i mention just how amazing this poem is? i mean like WOW your choice of words is just like on point "gravity has a way of/ blanketing the unaware like a fog/ picking at the dirt beneath your fingernails/ reveling in the scrape of metal on metal" I mean just amazing
I'm sorry to hear that you were upset :( i hope you feel better now and sending hugs <3
i wish i could end with some profound quote but i have none at the top of my head so i guess i'll just say one of my personal favorite winnie-the-pooh quotes: "if all else fails, take a nap." :) hope you have a great day!!

Absolutely fantastic! The imagery here is absolute gold, and the language was spot on. I also loved the intentional lower cases and lack of punctuation. It gave such unique emphasis. 10 out of 10, would read again! <3

Reply: thanks for the thoughtful comment, how kind!
This is sooo good! That second half of the poem really resonates (though all of it really does). This part especially: "you must keep crying, if not for them, then for yourself"

Wow, such great imagery! I love it.
Also, how Is that whenever I try to write a comment, I forget the words I want to use!? I can never do writing like this justice :)
