PROMPT: Why I Write

33
i write to live lifetimes /

of tailored silk and velvet fabric /
twinkling chandeliers and marble floors /
pianos humming and skirts swishing /

of booming cannons and smoking guns /
gunpowder burns and iron blood /
a terror i wish i’d never come to know /

of ivy walls and auburn bricks /
warm lattes and woolly scarves /
coffee shop romances and secret dates /

of warm sand tickling toes /
waves’ lullabies and dolphin’s hymns /
shells whispering secrets of the sea /

of hypnotizing pixels and screens /
soaring trains and talking dogs /
giving us the world at our fingertips /

of today, yesterday, and tomorrow /
the past i yearn to remember /
and the future i dream to see /

of memories i would never have /
and places i could never go /
people i would never love /
and things i could never know. /
i hope writing gives you the comfort it gives me.

So many lovely descriptions, but I think the last stanza would have to be my favourite. Congrats on being featured!

Lyrical. Thats how I must discribe this. It seemed to be dancing and I can totally picture this being read with some powerful piano music in the background. Wow. Just- wow. It made me smile. the whole thing.

This is such a nice description! I love your imagery and personal touch!

Also, not related to the piece, but looking at your bio; Are you a Potterhead? I am, aas you might know.... Who's your favourite character?

Also, don't stop romanticising things! How will we live if we can't fantasise? I know i wouldn't.
