Screaming & The Truth

November 10, 2020

FREE WRITING

33

Have you ever seen Death?

There is screaming
and clutching
and blood sometimes
and shadows walking into your being
and terror like nowhere else
and saying of
you can't make me let go

My soul fills up when I see it
with an awful dread and horror
with a fearful darkness
not for myself
but for the people who don't know the Truth
Because the screaming is very loud
Because the hope is very far
Because the hope is already gone

Do you know the Truth?

The only One who conquered Death
Who came and
held children and healed the blind and respected outcasts
Who came and sought out the
oppressed and lost and brokenhearted
and saved them
and turned their deaths into portals
to everlasting peace

My soul fills up when I hear it
with a sense of splendor and awe
with the feeling of being deeply loved
and fully known
by the Prince of Peace
And my hope rests in him
and I wish each person's did
Because the screaming is very loud
Because the joy is endless
Because Death will someday be never

For God so loved the world that he sent his one only Son, that whoever believes in him will not die but have eternal life.
John 3:16

This is wonderful! I love how you repeated some lines and the way that the last three lines show a change in perspective. I admire the courage you have to speak your truth and beliefs with such grace and conviction. Great work! <3 <3
Also, thank you so so much for all of the comments you’ve left on my recent pieces. Your continual support means a lot to me!

Replying- Thank you! It's funny what happens when you're bored …also, it's nice to know I'm not alone. About John 3:16, have you heard of the Tim Tebow thing where he wore it under his eyes for a game and about 9.4 million people looked that verse up at the game, and then three years later, on the same date he played a game, and almost all the stats had the numbers 316? It was so cool :) sorry if that made absolutely no sense

First of all, this is epic. I love to see fellow Christians expressing their faith like this. Second, I just have to say that I absolutely love LOTR. Actually just started reading them for the third time again today... looking forward to an epic saga. :)

O! I love this so much! It is so well written that I feel like it could be a Psalm! The One who conquered death, Prince of Peace. This is such a wonderful piece! John 3:16 is one of my favorite verses, thanks to AWANA (I am not sure if you know what that is).
