i remember loving you once

October 19, 2020

i remember those days on the old gym floor.
we'd imagine our future weddings;
you wanted yours on the front porch of your family's farm.
i remember the letters you used to write.
i'd read them over and over again,
hoping against hope that i'd see you soon.
i remember the poems i sent to you.
pieces of my soul bled into words
for you to hold close to your chest.
i remember meeting in the hallway after class.
we'd dance clumsily and block the walkway,
not caring what others thought.
i remember the nights we shared.
soft music would play through the tv in the guest room,
and i memorized your face as we talked.
i remember the chilly october evening at the school festival.
you looked so beautiful,
red hair flying in the wind as you ran.

i remember loving you once.
[yes, this is based on actual events]

crystalline, this is an absolute masterpiece. The title itself is just so reminiscent and saudade, and the tie in at the end is just so heartbreaking. I hope you have had the time to heal, because the rawness and pain in this piece is just so evident. It's exquisite how you've woven it together so wondrously. I-
Oh crystalline, I do not know who you are nor do you know who I am, but just reading your writing makes me feel as if I can see who you truly are (Nostalgic nighttime hours, what can I say?). Reading your writing is like holding hands with my younger self and watching the world unfold, it makes me nostalgic and reminiscent and so irrevocably warm inside. There's just something about it that makes me swoon, something about it that reminds me of rain against windowpanes and nights wrapped in warm blankets. You are a darling and your writing is just so admirable.

this is nostalgic imagery at it's finest, the beginning was lovely and the lines "and i memorized your face as we talked." HAD me, goodness, this is so good

The past tense of this makes this sad, yet it's so romantic. This piece is pretty! It reminds me of one of the pieces I wrote, I believe it was called a tiring embrace.
