PROMPT: Why I Write

i write to faceless, nameless people.
People with their own worries and hopes and joys.
People in far off lands and distant times.
in the past, present, and future.

i write to them about my life.
my worries, my hopes, my joys.
i write them in words.
i'm funny that way-- words go straight from
head to
missing my mouth.

i write to them about what i wish was mine.
i build myself up from the
pieces someone else dropped behind.
i tell them i belong and that
i'm loved and that
i have super powers
and just about a million other things.

i write it all down so that they can see
all the crazy that goes on
high up there in my head.

i write to them,
not for them.
no, i write for me
and my crazy thoughts spinning and spinning
and my heart feeling things beyond belief.

i write to relieve the build-up of all of the
and thoughts
and dreams.

i write so that the nameless, faceless people
can see that we all have the thoughts and feelings and dreams.
so that they can feel human.
feel as if they belong.

but most of all,
i write for me.

(and, of course, all the
that goes on high up there in my head)

Second attempt at this prompt! I actually like both poems a lot. I think the other one (also called "the gift of words") is slightly better and more powerful, Which one do you guys like better?

I love the concept of writing about your view of your audience. You're an awesome, talented person and your words have a flow that makes reading your pieces so captivating. Have an awesome day.

thank you for the kind welcome! i appreciate the feedback. it's been a long time since i've taken a shot at poetry.
i see that you are an even more talented writer. i really liked this piece. definitely feel "i write to relieve the build-up of all of the feelings and thoughts and dreams."
one last thing before i go: gilmore girls is undeniably awesome. i long for the sarcastic capabilities of lorelai glimore. sadly i am not quick of wit like her and rory.
alright, see you around the dashboard!

Re: ah yeah. That makes sense—LFA is kinda... mature. But really good!!! I'd have to say thats my favorite John Green book, but I also love Turtles All The Way Down. They're all amazing!!! Oh, also An Abundance Of Katherines. That one is amazing!!! I think I've read paper towns, but I can't remember. I need to read it again, if 8 have :))

'i build myself up from the
    pieces someone else dropped behind'
    I loved this.
Both the poems are pretty good but I like this one more because it seemed concrete to me. :D
Also, I feel the repetition is beautiful. It reminds the reader again what you said before.

Re: Thank you! That's great you felt that. XD

I didn't like so much the ending, it's a bit repetitive (especially the lines between parenthesis), but the lines 1) "i'm funny that way-- words go straight from
    head to
    missing my mouth."

and 2) "i build myself up from the
    pieces someone else dropped behind."

and 3) "i write to them,
    not for them.
    no, i write for me"

are so powerful and well-written! I loved it!

I definitely love both of them! However, I think the format of the other one is a little more powerful and unique! Great job on both though! :)
