Bloom ~ 13 {Companion Series to "Mold"}

October 14, 2020

My husband just made a sunflower pop up
from the ground with his bare hands.

I don't know what to do.
Or what to say.
But it's hard not to
admit that the signs
were there to begin with.

I remember this one time
I had picked a few daffodils
I forgot to water them
for a week.

They were browned
and wilted
I left the room for five minutes
to go get a trash bag to put them
in and throw them out.

They were good as new.
Sitting on the windowsill
facing the morning sun.
No explanation.

Now I understand.
Phillip lets out a little cry.
Ezra shoots up to his feet
and tells me not
to be afraid.
Not to tell anyone
about what I saw.

I just rock our son
and nod.
I'm in a daze.

Re: that really sucks. do you think you'll try to republish it and edit out whatever they thought was wrong with it?
