This prompt was so much fun! I have always loved identifying an author's tone of voice and style of writing, so it was great to do something with it...I hope you enjoy! Also: the book I used to write this piece was "Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes."

Sometimes she wished that her friend would move faster
Then, together they could run
through the prarie grass
laughing as it tickled their bare toes
But no, her friend always wanted to stop
see the sky overhead
watch the moon follow them
wherever they go
It was the one thing about the girls that was different
they both had the same
soft hazel eyes
and hair that followed the wind
but she always wanted to run
like the waves on the beach
her friend always staying
She never understood why
Wasn't it best to always run as fast as
you possibly could?
