romeo, romeo, wherefore didst thou go?

By: waxingcrescents

romeo, romeo, wherefore didst thou go?
thine descendants know not the cascading waterfall of juliet's laugh
nor the ethereal golden lustre to her hair;
no, these simple headed boys look only to the sway of her hips
and the slip of her neckline
and romeo, romeo, thy juliet is frightened
men from children nothing differ

romeo, romeo, taketh her to a faraway place
where women may find liberation from these fools
wandering souls she beckoneth from her balcony
but they serenade her no more, no
her creeping ivy they hath started to climb
and no longer doth they compare her to a summer's day
from this midsummer night they have stolen all quality of dream

Oh, Shakespeare. What a guy.

Message to Readers

In other words: Men. *eye roll*

Peer Review

I absolutely adored how you incorporated elements from Shakespeare's best known works, and how you used such archaic but beautiful language to discuss a very modern issue (men, yes, *rolls eyes*)! I cannot tell you how much I LOVE...THIS...IDEA.

When I say this poem is perfection, I'm not exaggerating. I really really enjoyed reading it (in fact, I read it several times). I wasn't confused by the archaic language, and I didn't miss any part of the message you wanted to convey. Everything was super crisp and clear, and the descriptions were g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s.
