Kika Lies Like a Tiger

Kika lies on the rocks.
She lies on the rocks like a tiger lying in the grass.
Soon, she will go into the ocean,
but only when the sun is halfway through the sky.
She waits while waves stretch beneath her,
while crabs mingle in the sand.

Kika is wearing sunglasses.
She is wearing earrings that hide in her hair.
Her curls crumble like chocolate, her legs fold like bamboos,
her eyelashes drizzle down to her nose.
Kika is ignoring the people that play in the water,
ignoring the seaweed that plays with the shells.
She is listening to a fish flop between ripples.

A cloud floats in front of the sun,
and Kika gets up. She puts her feet in the water. The water is warmer than the sun.
She swims. Jellyfish swim with her, too.
They don't sting anymore.

The sun climbs up the sky,
and then the cloud is far away.
