For the Children of America Draft 2

October 15, 2020

"The most merciful thing that a family does to one of its infant members is to kill it."
This was said by a person who met with the female version of the KKK. This was said by a person who supported eugenics, a movement that wanted to "purify" babies by getting rid of "inferior races and traits". A person who wanted to rid society of disabled people.
This is a person who society worships and puts on a high pedestal. This is Margaret Sanger, the founder of the birth control organization Planned Parenthood.

I believe abortion is murder, and I won't sugarcoat it. Although this may be considered an unpopular opinion, that does not make it any less valid. Leaders like Martin Luther King Jr and Malala made a difference by voicing their opinions, even though there were people who disagreed. So why shouldn't I do the same?

There has been a lot of public outcry recently following the death of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor. Many citizens are fighting for a more equal and fair system of law enforcement as they believe it is systemically racist. Mascots and names are being changed if they are even slightly related to the period of slavery.
While I may not support all of these changes, I do support equality and justice to all. And, because of this, I refuse to look over the fact that the most unsafe place for an African American is in its mother's womb.

Although Black women make up 13.3% of the US population, about 36% of abortions are from them. Not to mention the fact that 79% of surgical abortions come from minority communities. Here we are arguing over the 14 unarmed Black Americans killed a year, while Planned Parenthood is taking the lives of millions upon millions.

Margaret Sanger, in her speech "My Way To Peace" said that Congress should "Open the gates of the U.S.A. to those countries whose inhabitants have the inherent talents and national characteristics desirable." A lot of people believe that when she was discussing this, she meant disabilities and not skin color, even though she was literally talking about closing the gates of immigration to restrict those that carried dark skin. If you still don't believe me, the answer to her true intentions lies in her own words: “We are paying for, and even submitting to, the dictates of an ever-increasing, unceasingly spawning class of human beings who never should have been born at all.”

It is my belief that no human being is without worth. No matter their color of skin, mental and physical abilities, or sex, everyone has value. The fact that this organization, funded by the government and supported by many, is rooted in such cruel and revolting beliefs, is a testament to the true state of America. It's a testament to the fact that human life has little to no respect anymore, and that people will brush over the real facts and focus on what they want to believe. People want to believe that Planned Parenthood is in people's best interest and they ignore any evidence suggesting otherwise.

Imagine if your dog got pregnant. What if you didn't want the puppies? What if no one you knew wanted the puppies? Using the logic of Planned Parenthood, the puppies deserve to die before being born. How would that make you feel? How would you feel knowing that the puppies will never have a chance at life, never have a chance to find a loving owner? You may be wondering why I am using this example. The answer is that people have more love and respect for their pets than an unborn baby. There are more pets than there are babies in San Francisco due to the number of abortions that occur there. If someone were to start killing off animal offspring, there would be a huge uproar. So why isn't it this way for a human life when human life is just as precious? A baby is a miracle of life. From the moment of conception it is a miracle, a living creature with a heart and soul. A living creature who's life gets ended before they have a chance to experience it.

The most common argument for abortion is that it should be the woman's choice whether or not to abort the baby. People believe women should be able to have the pleasure of sex without dealing with the consequences, and they believe that women have the right to get rid of the fetus. I want to start off by saying I understand where they are coming from. With how the world portrays sex, it's not a surprise that people want to make love before marriage. However, I think that if you decide to have this experience, you have to accept the consequences of your actions. If someone gets themselves pregnant, that is the consequence for their actions. And, if they are not ready to become parents, there are always adoption agencies to look into. There are many people that cannot have biological children, such as couples with fertility issues or gay couples, that still want to have a family.

There is no situation that is black and white, including this one. A common point I hear made is about the victims of r*pe getting pregnant. While it is unfortunate, and I wish that it would never happen, less than 1% of Americans get pregnant from it. We cannot legalize a birth control organization because of less than one percent of the population. It just doesn't make sense.

For every heartbeat you have, a baby dies in America. A baby with the ability to one day change the world. A baby who could live a long, happy life like you and I. Only they aren't given the chance. This murder needs to stop. Let's protect the children of America.
