Why do I cry when I'm angry?

October 8, 2020

Why do I cry when im angry?
My cheeks are bright red
My nose is flared
My blood is boiling
But my eternal tears never cared.

Down they roll
Out of control.
I want to shout, not cry.
Im angry, not sad!
Help me God, I'm going mad.

I feel so small,
So vulnerable and naive.
"What a cry baby, ha!"
They say.
It stings as though I'm sitting in a bee hive.

But do they really matter?
Absolutely not.
What matters are my thoughts.
I'm angry for a reason.
Angry at their act.

There's nothing wrong in crying.
What's wrong is keeping it in.
Say something,
For you might regret staying silent later.
Tell them to stop, tell them.

They stand there laughing
But that will not last long,
For they only pretend to be strong.
Inside they're broken.
Shattered into a million pieces.

So why do I cry when I'm angry?
Its because I'm human
And I'm not afraid to show it.
Its because of the hate and negativity.
Its because I don't pretend.

But does that mean I'm weak?
It means I'm strong
For I can show them what I feel
That courage is not something they have.

And I'm so proud I do.
For it helped me stand up,
Gave me a voice to raise.
It helped me believe in myself,
Reminded me of the dreams I have to chase.

I really love this piece!! It has a great message. "But does that mean I'm weak?
    It means I'm strong
For I can show them what I feel
That courage is not something they have." I have to remember this. Great poem!

Well, I can so relate to what Madeline said. You kicked off in an angry cum frustrated tone and as it progressed ahead, I could feel the growing inner strength in your voice. Very well done with internal rhymes at certain places. :)

I think it should be 'It's' because instead of 'its' in the third last stanza. Correct me if I'm wrong. :)

happens to me all the time..... like, I cry when I’m sad, happy, and angry! that just means that crying is something you do when you wanna show someone how you really feel!

I don't really cry when I'm angry as much as when I'm embarrassed.... Which doesn't help cause that just makes me even more embarrassed XD

This started off so relatable but I love how you turned it around towards the end and made it more deep and meaningful.
Often, I cry when I'm angry and it really annoys me because I have so much to say but the only thing that comes out is my croaky voice and a sob

Nice work! Someone once said to me that tears of pain start in the left eye (I think) and tears of happiness start in the right (I think, or the other way around idk) but this poem reminded me of that. I cry more when I am sad but I’ve probably cried out of anger a few times as well. Good writing here!

    so true!!!!
i don't know why people showcase crying as a weakness, i personally think that crying is a therapy of some kind, you know?
just letting out all the confused feelings and the anger, really helps you to calm down.
sometimes, even shouting and breaking things (which i do a lot) also helps.
