almost insignificant

PROMPT: Intersection

at first glance,
the building is empty,
void of all life.

harsh concrete,
cracks in thousands of lines,
across the hostile space.

but look closer,
look again,
for this ominous place is not yet dead.

a leaf,
a tiny sprout,
emerges from the broken lines.

it smiles,
it beams,
it waves to the world.

small,
innocent,
almost insignificant. 

but yet it is there,
it begs to differ with our world,
it tells our planet that it is still alive.

perhaps it is insignificant, 
but with a smile,
I go on my way,
confident that our world is still alive.
