we have moved to a new home far away that we now try to carve to our whims. feedback is welcome.

the slight draft of musty home with no windows open
the scent of paint and half dried plaster burning your nostrils
renovation is a revelation of potential beauty
or maybe an enhancement of the beauty already there
old fashioned fireplaces and dust that colors surfaces white
doors that creak but have no door knobs
cracks along the ceilings and paint chips on the floors
the bone marrow of the house exposed
from uncovered wires from installation
high ceiling beams dripping in cobwebs
the air is thick with dust and drafty chill
yet the sun dances on the sidewalk all the same
the home that had known decades stands resolute
as its charm is broken and cracks repaired with gold.
