A short Musing on Loneliness

October 1, 2020

Loneliness is agony.
It's not the type of agony that pierces deep,
like the tip of a sharp knife; nor is it comparable
to the heat-induced pain of a burn mark. It's a dark void.
A cold mental prison that is otherwise, inescapable.

Constantly being tossed around by the waves of
indifference, blank stares & cheerful facades
start to become a customary occurence
when you've familiarized with them for such lengthy periods.

But, like a lone flower,
I am gradually withering yet still waiting,
for the rays of the vivid sun to appear &
replace this dark empyrean of insouciance.

  • SIDE NOTE: If you couldn't already tell from this lazy piece, I've been experiencing alot of writer's block lately :(

no, no, this is marvelous! the imagery and the similies and the metaphors are perfect for this poem and it is so damn freaking a lot of relatable-nessss. i feel this. the loneliness creeps in and then there's fog all around and then you can't get it out and gosh, your words are so powerful. keep writing and for both your sake and mine, i hope the loneliness fades away. <3 <3 <3

This is really good!!!!!!! Very relevant and I like how you described loneliness as a void. This was very honest and great.
