An Exercise in Self-Love

August 30, 2020

I can fit my fingers around your wrist with room to spare!
I'd tell you a joke that'd make you laugh your [boobs]* off, but it looks like you already did.
You need to eat a sandwich!
Don't worry, you'll get some curves when you're older.
You look like you eat nothing but lettuce for dinner.
I can see your zits so well from this angle.
You look like a guy in that picture. It's the way you're smiling in it.
Don't wear yoga pants. They don't look good on people like you.

I am beautiful. Whether I have curves or not, if I gain weight someday or if I lose even more. If I'm able to gain muscle or if I stay "skin and bones". Healthy looks different on different people. My beauty is not conditional, and it's not there in spite of the "problems" I supposedly have. Every single part of me is absolutely gorgeous.

I love my wrists.
I love my ribs.
I love my chest.

I love my acne.
I love my stomach.
I love my smile.
I love me.
I am beautiful.
*the word that person used was more vulgar
All of the comments in italics are things that I've been told or are things I've heard said to other people (mostly the former) (sometimes paraphrased).
I did this as an exercise in self-love. It can be really hard to like everything about the way I look, but I've come a long way. I encourage everyone to do something like this, whether you post it or not. Perhaps you can say it in the mirror. It really has the potential to help.

These were some very toxic comments. Can't believe someone would say that. Loved the self-love theme. Why don't people get the body cannot change that. More power to you!!!!!

also beauty has nothing to do with the shape of your body.yes girl yes.
also people talking about your zits. LIKE come on you're a teen, and it doesn't take away anything from your beauty.
also i know its difficult, because i still struggle with self image.but we all have to remeber that true beauty is on the inside, not our appearance.
kudos to you for writing this.

    yes anne,you're beautiful!
i get so frustrated when people tell me i should eat more, like dude i already eat alot.some people only believe that teasing overweight people or people who don't fit into the 'skinny' category is wrong.but when it comes to thin people, they think its fine.if someone tells you you aren't beautiful anne,DONT BELIEVE THEM! you are so happy that you wrote this.

Thank you for this! I would love to say that this isn't something I struggle with, but that would be the opposite of true. Such a good exercise :)
