yeah, thanks.

careful of the frogs eating gunpowder in your stomach, the thunder calls to them.

August 25, 2020

I’m so tired of the thunder.
It’s too loud.
The kind of power
which shakes the walls,
and I worry if
my shelves will break.

My head hurts (hurts)
when thunder throbs (throbs)
at my temples. (temples, temples)
Pushing at my ears
until they’re pulsing,
my heartbeat that’s
going to explode
out, with my eyes.
I shut them, too.

I never understood
how they say
their bones shook.
Now it rattles,
it, the thunder,
and I’m waiting to
see my femur
peeking out in blood,
following the call of
without a care if it’s,
so very dark,

It’s interesting to think.
I can’t run from this
any faster than I
run from your ignorance.
Lies pouring from
breath. Please don’t
open your mouth.
Oh, do you know?
Know, no word now
isn’t loaded.

I can’t run any
away away away
from the thunder.
Your thunder.
It shakes, and
throbs, and
rattles in my body,
because you have a heart.

But you won’t know how
to use it, until
you lose it… by
putting a bullet in

it's been a long time, and i changed my name. enjoy it or not, i'm proud. i'd like to know what you think this is about. for me, i wrote the thunder to be politics. read it again and think of it that way. or not.

bye for now.

I love the symbolism here. As SavannaC said, this is indeed relatable; politics is exhausting and usually very obnoxious.

I read the foot notes first. Let me just say, this is one of the best political poems I’ve read. It’s SO relatable! And the descriptions and metaphors are beautiful and describe this feeling perfectly.

Replying: first of all, thank you for your kind comment! Secondly, ahhhh I just realized I deleted the footnotes that specified my piece was a song *face palm* well, it is a song, so I'm glad it sounds like one! :)

Wow, this is powerful... I read this twice, the second time thinking of the thunder as politics, and I definitely agree. Beautiful poem, as well <3
