"And I will show that nothing can happen more beautiful than death,
And I will thread a thread through my poems that time and event are compact,
And that all the things of the universe are perfect miracles, each as profound as any."
-Song of Myself (Leaves of Grass, Walt Whitman)

red and black raspberries
adorning the jagged edges
of my childhood
leaving sickly-sweet stains
on my memories
the smell of overripe sorrow
fermenting and filling
all the cracks
pry the remains
from the bottom of my shoe
leaving dark patches
that I try to forget
focus on the ripe berry and
not the thorns

The imagery. Just wow. It's a fairly short poem, and yet you convey so much emotion.
"the smell of overripe sorrow/fermenting and filling/all the cracks" – absolutely beautiful.
