Old Faithful

August 16, 2020

I know what my heart is like
When you hold me close:
It is like a geyser
Jolting from the splintered dirt
And searching for the sky,
Warming the parched and damaged roots
And coaxing the flowers to bloom.

Inspired by the simile-based 7-line poem “Ebb,” by Edna St. Vincent Millay.
An early birthday wish to my older sister, Susan (August 16th!). She always gives the best hugs :)
