i hear you write poetry now
and i snuck into your dorm last evening
to see if you've written of me
so i'd know you miss me as i miss you

before the storms
we held each other close
dancing to the music room's old vinyls
hands wrapped 'round my waist
fingers dusted with rosin
air bright with secrets
lips brushing against my ear
soft, tingling
whispering sweet latin nonsense

i'd sit on the windowsill
watching gentle raindrops chase each other
the seductive lies of your violin
twisting through the air

remember when we tried to learn ancient greek
so we'd communicate like the romantics
and no one else would understand it?
can we speak like that again, koritsimou?

these memories pass by softly
but when i grasp onto them
they cut
and i bleed and bleed
but it's the cost of remembering what it felt like
for you to offer me your long-lost smile

so excuse me for spying
but i needed to know
if you still thought of me
it may seem injudicious, but
people like you and i
we want to be omniscient
and i needed to know
so thank you for writing of me
i haven't a clue how long i will wait
for you to love me again
maybe years
maybe seconds
but at least you write of me
and that is a start
Romantic academia is taking over all my pieces and I'm not mad about it.

Replying: Thanks for you comment on my piece. I can't pick a favorite book (I love way too many) but I love The Ranger's Apprentice series and the Lunar Chronicles. I also love The Hunger Games and so many others. I could go on and on. And I grew up around cars so that kind of contributed to that piece. I also like novels and I have a bunch of books of my own. Which is good because I have so many siblings and they can borrow them and I can reread them. How about you? Do you have a favorite book(s)?

WHEW where to get started on this one. The imagery is stunning. I especially love "fingers dusted with rosin/air bright with secrets/lips brushing against my ear/soft, tingling/whispering sweet latin nonsense" I'm not familiar enough with romantic writing to see the connection, but this piece has such distinct and incredible feeling. I also enjoy how the speaker is clearly doing something wrong and apologizes for it, it's too easy to put yourself in the place of a speaker and be a flawless character, but the fact that both people here have flaws really draws me in.

Alright, I already love your writing. I need to check out more of your pieces, but this is absolutely fantastic. I love the whole feeling of this poem.

And -- yes. Romantic academia. Just yes.

AWW i loved this!! 'remember when we tried to learn ancient greek
so we'd communicate like the romantics
and no one else would understand it?,' this is my favourite line!! and the subtle rhyme between 'romantics' and 'understand it' is perfect! the entire piece made my heart soar how beautiful!

Aw, well done! Romance can be a bit eh for me, but this was written so wonderfully that I really enjoyed it. Descriptions in the middle are so floaty and longing! Great work.
