First off, I love the world-building that you've done in this piece, it's so well thought-out and it feels so vivid and real. Often times when I read dystopian/sci-fi short stories, I can't necessarily relate to the world as it doesn't really feel "tangible" in a sense, but that was not the case here!! The entire time as I was reading this, I felt immersed in the protagonist's world and could feel the prominent clash of their society (ie: the division between Uptown and Downtown). You also did a spectacular job creating characters that are multi-dimensional as well! The Pig really had an aura of mystery to him too, and though I sensed that he was dangerous (for example, when you said "...you're either the best in Downtown for what he wants, or you're just a dead duck."), he was also humorous and as I said before, relatable. The main character, Joey, was also very well written on your part. In the beginning, she's very confident in her ability to hack into websites/get herself out of situations, but then at the end, she kind of just accepts her fate -- there's some major character development that occurred there and I'm excited to see what happens next!
If you were to continue writing this/expanding this, I'd love to read more about the history behind the world you've created. In other words, how do you think it might impact your piece if you revealed the reason behind the strict divides in society here / the reason why the Uptownians send people to the moon each year? This is simply an idea, but if you were to keep writing this story, what type of effect might it create if you wrote a chapter from an Uptownians point of view? However, feel no need to take this suggestion. :) I also noticed a few minor grammar errors here and there, and though they don't affect the overall story within the piece, Grammarly is a great free tool and can help extinguish those little mistakes (I use it myself :))! When you're writing on Write the World, it automatically aligns with the site and is super user-friendly! Again, feel free not to look into it I just wanted to let you know because I do find it helpful! :)
Overall, this was a really fun piece to read and review -- your world building was so well-done!!! If you have any questions about this review or about Write the World in general, feel free to let me know, and in the meantime, keep writing!! :)
