She smiled wistfully up at him, her eyes filled with a melancholy haze.
"If only we hadn't waited so long," she murmured ruefully.
He breathed out, thumbing through his yellowed album of memories, and lamented. He'd finally gotten the girl. And the end credits had started rolling.
"We could have been married. Had a family. That's what I always envisioned for us, anyway. If only we'd figured it out earlier."
"No. Shh. We only have a few hours left. Let's just sit here, together, and watch the sunrise. It's the last time we'll ever be able to."
