A friendly reminder that your number of published pieces doesn’t define you as a writer. Some people work more quickly than others, and for some it takes time. Work at your own pace, you’re doing great.

“One serving of happiness please.”
that was what I ordered

it came in a brown cardboard box
tied up with string

running to grab a knife
i cut through the tape
and lifted up the flaps

nothing jumped out
and no one started playing a song
and I couldn’t help thinking
something was wrong

so i reached my hand in and took a better look
an empty box stared back at me

i tipped it upside down
and shook it all around
nothing fell out
nothing could be found

i checked the label and they claimed it was “guaranteed”
yet another hoax of corporal greed

perhaps they mixed up my order
so I got my laptop and checked online
scrolled through the order but
it all seemed fine

i decided to go have a look at the reviews
but they were all rated 4-5 star
and I was really finding it all
a bit bizarre

so i sat on my stained sofa
feeling utterly betrayed
but out the window
it was actually kind of a beautiful day

the sun was behind the hill
and clouds were filling out the sky
i noticed there were daisies stitched into my patch of front lawn
and i’m sure i heard a seagull cry

i smiled and i laughed once
before taking out my laptop and tapping on the keys

4.5 stars
“i never knew it would take me to buy a box of nothing to realise i have everything i need to be happy... lost half a star because it came a lifetime too late”

hey! i got a summer job, hence why i haven’t been as active as i would have :(( and i only broke 1 tape dispenser on my first day! yip yip!

this piece was written on a whim and i’ll probably come back and fix it if i have time later like i still have to do with a ton of my other pieces... cheers to all my fellow procrastinating friends :)

but how are you? i hope you’re all good, like genuinely good. i know it’s hard right now, but i beleaf (hahaha punny autumn!) in you and know you can get through this. take care <3

I love this. I love how it shows that happiness isn't tangible. Love the ending. Incredible.

This is so clever! The ending is especially cool. You could transcribe this into a short story and it would be great, if you wanted!

It means a lot to me that you took the time to write that - and I really appreciate your sharing of experiences and advice, and validation of my feelings! *sending back more virtual hugs and Tim Tams from Australia*
