i shut my eyes
and force daggers down my throat
the taste rolls different down my tongue
could it be my memories?
bitter but yet, so sickly sweet

music can be a comfort
mixes of random chords and emotion
but nostalgia burns against cracking lips
why do i keep feeling this way?
love is a tonic, half poison, half healing

the doctors say
there’s a cherry pit inside of me
and that i’m not myself when i wear this skin
but why break through my rib cage with no reason?
i know my body, he just doesn’t know me

i shut my eyes
and force daggers down my throat
the taste bleeds, broken down my tongue
and i know this time
that it’s you i’m thinking of
