Wild Onions

June 2, 2020

Yellow wildflowers bow to the wind
Mocking us with their ungodly chants
In a town of prerequisites and rules

Our breath progresses
Close, so close to the soil
I can smell the wild onions

Pungent as the Earth's bowels
I can smell you
Oddly wooden with skin of bronze

My ocean sounds
Lapping up every wave
First, with urgency

Finally, without much as a utter
Our insides burst like fireworks
On a weary Wednesday morning

Cold, and ugly
