dysphoria | pride month day 19

June 19, 2020

it's when i look in the mirror
and all i can see
is my long hair
and chest that is anything but flat

it's when the cashier says
"thank you, miss"
when i'm trying
to look masculine

it's when my mom calls me
"my girl" and
"young lady"
and i have to smile and nod

it's when i'm grouped with the girls
for a group project
or a sports team
or the locker room

it's when i look at myself
and see an imposter
because i do not look
like how i feel

but all of that vanishes
for just a moment
when a friend utters a single word:
lowercase intentional.
respect pronouns people, it sure has helped me a ton

I really like the emotive feel that this poem gives off!
I also think that It is very important to respect people's pronouns.

This is so important. Respecting pronouns is the least you can do to respect a person. <3
