Beyond the Boundary

A bitter night beyond the boundary
Cold against my copper skin
Warm against my iron heart

A bitter night beyond the boundary
Degrades the eye of gold and silver
Leaving quick farewells on my fingers

A bitter night beyond the boundary
Shedding wax as lethargy smiles alight
I burn out without sparking a flame

A bitter night beyond the boundary
I color beyond my lines this time
Only to encounter thicker ones further

A bitter night beyond the boundary
My reflection as my only companion
Alone but never lonely, a sophist lie

A bitter night beyond the boundary
The stars rust and turn down to copper
And the moon grows sick of shining silver

A bitter night beyond the boundary
Iron on my tongue as I recount memories
The poison of gold in every lick and bite

A bitter night beyond the boundary
Shedding wax as lethargy smiles alight
I burn out without sparking a flame
