I don't like the ending to this. If you have any alternatives. Send them my way.

790 Dollars?

May 21, 2020

My creative writing teacher sent me a link to this poetry club program
over the summer.
I would be more than happy to improve my poetry.
Not for the price of $790

$790 is not a worthy reminder that "azure" is more descriptive
then "Blue"
More than that,
We shouldn't be putting a price on teaching or brains the language,
Our souls already speak.

It feels like $790
for my recycled composition book
to have a couple more words
with strikethroughs on them.

I write and produce music for a living,
That and poetry are 2 ways that my soul will speak words
My mind lacks the imagination to.
I have, even at 14, paid back the $1500 it took
to learn which chords draw tears and shake rears. (Side note: I thought this line was super creative)

$790 won't tear a hole in my my chest
and string out an undiscovered language.
I was born with a couple golden keys and raw talents.
When placed correctly,
they open that chest.
Along with everything inside.
You just don't charge nearly $800 for a 5 day poetry course. I love that idea, but $40 at most.

This is a mood. I am doing an online camp through a vet college that I personally find to high priced for online. Your writing is already amazing though so :)

This is a mood lol. This seems like the kind of poem that should end with a play on words? I'm kinda bad at that kind of thing so here's some alliteration:
"A ploy to pocket a pretty penny from my poetry"
"Highway robbery of my half-baked haikus"
Something like that? Just a way to end with a fun line or a laugh.

This is so true. It actually insults the talent.
    I loved the piece!
