the chrysanthemum ichor
shies away,
flinching when the glare
hurtles down from above.
gilded ripples flicker and sway
and feather-spun filaments
of sun-dried blossoms,
once sun-kissed and supple,
now limp and lifeless,
hover, frozen in time,
as turbulent seas
boil beneath.
golden mountains rise and fall
from the ocean's
amber depths
while I lift the cup,
its oceans, mountains,
and forests in between,
to my lips.
