This Side Of My Skin

This side of my skin
(This side of my skin)

Is what the world sees
(Is what only I can see)

Tan skin with tiny freckles
(Chalky skin with aggressive scars)

The side that is peachy, healthy and whole
(The side that is awful, fragile and broken)

Judged by its colour or texture
(Judged by its worth or value)

But doesn't make a dent
(But starts to crack)

From each insult that is thrown
(From each insult that is thrown)

 A harbor to my soul
(A door to my soul)

This is who I think I am
(This is who I really am)

I love how you've used parentheses to add in information! I especially love the stanza "But doesn't make a dent / (But starts to crack)" -- I can really see the words you've written inside my head! Awesome job!
