True beauty does not corelate with weight

I am not skinny
I do not think that I ever will be
But size and beauty do not correlate
Who cares if I am a size eight instead of a two?
No one but me apparently.
Because here is the lie that our culture has taught us to believe as true
Our culture has taught us that our size correlates with our beauty
The majority of tv shows are filled with perfectly skinny and seemingly flawless people
Which gives a false sense of what true beauty is.
I may not be a size two but that doesn't make me any less beautiful.
You can be very skinny
You can be average weight
Or you can be overweight
And still be gorgeous
True beauty is not represented by the number on the scale
It is represented by your heart and actions
But also you can be beautiful on the outside without fitting society's mold
Please do not take drastic measures to change your size believing that you have to be a certain size to be beautiful.
A long time ago I used to believe that.
I was wrong!
I only try to live a healthier lifestyle now in order to feel better about myself
I do not correlate my weight with my beauty anymore,
Although I am still trying to get that scale to go down I know I am beautiful regardless.
Our culture has given us a false testimony of what true beauty is.
Do not for a minute by it.
You are beautiful.
You do not have to look like the people on tv.
You have a good heart.
True beauty does not corelate with weight.

I totally agree with @Emi. There are so many misconceptions in the media and everything is so heavily edited to make people more "attractive." Everyone is beautiful as long as they are kind, considerate people and this message needs to be shared! Thanks for writing this piece!

A lot of people need to wake up and read this poem, it speaks nothing but the truth

I completely agree with this! Hollywood really needs to shape up and stop brainwashing people that skinny curves equal beauty. Besides, most of what you see on TV is heavily altered from reality.

Measure the weight of human heart and we'll be happy to see that we can all love someone just the same. Awesome piece. America is kinda messed up in this way and it sorta screws with so much of our mindset. Body positivity is so important.
