Love is a body of water.
The surface so clear, shimmering in the
sunlight,

Showing off its alluring skin,
Making it irresistible not to jump in.
and when you fall into it,
head over heels, theres no turning back.
The water will consume you,
and you will struggle to stay afloat.

Even if you knew how to swim,
you will get tired after a while.

Even if you reach the shore,
you will still be wet.

Even if you dry yourself,
The memory of jumping into the waters will live in your head.

the further I read on, the more brilliant it became! You're so right! I love a good metaphor and how far a writer can go with it, and you did an amazing job tying these two seemingly unrelated things together! Awesome work! :D

This poem is really fantastic and I love the alluring and lustful language that you use to describe the water, when really it’s like a siren attracting a sailor, a predator. It reminds me a lot of this shock advertisement I watched once where this stream is talking about how dangerous it is and then this kid falls into it. Sad stuff. This is great!

Also, this piece is brilliant! The comparison is amazing and fits so well, and your writing style and flow is so pleasant to read.

Replying: It depends on what you want to use it for. If you are planning to write a similar piece (just a poem that has different meanings whether you read it top-bottom or bottom-top), feel free! (I would appreciate it if you would give credit to me in the footnotes, though.) :) What were you thinking of doing?

P.S. Thanks for all the support! I really appreciate it.

I fell this poem. It hits the nail right in the head.
Even if you knew how to swim,
you will get tired after a while.

Even if you reach the shore,
    you will still be wet.

    Even if you dry yourself,
The memory of jumping into the waters will live in your head.
These even's though scary to face are beautifully expressed

I've never thought about love from this perspective before ... I love how relatable you make this at the end with the reminder that once we've fallen in love (or into the water), you won't be the same again.
    Keep on! God bless!
