I love to write, especially about the darker parts of life. Few people want to face the reality of what lays beyond the fantasy of writing. But I differ from these cowards of realism. I do not come to escape. I come to explore.

To My Dear, Loving Mother

May 7, 2020

To my dear mother,
A woman somehow still sane.
I want to tell you all the things
Lingering in my brain.
We have a bond, me and you.
An unbreakable one at that.
Everyone knows this to be true,
That's a simple fact.
You're kind and sweet and strong and brave,
Everything I strive for.
When I feel stuck in a daze
You're there to unlock the door.
You go to fight for all my battles
And you come home victorious.
You're there to keep me steady when I'm feeling rattled.
Surely, of all mothers, you are the most glorious.
The rest of the words I want to say
Have yet to be invented.
But I can show you any day
That our love is cemented.
So to you, my dear loving mother,
Even without a gift,
I hope this poem is like no other
And that your eyes aren't in a mist.
