i miss smoking organic cigarettes with you
on the verandah
ashes lining our sun-soaked fingernails
as we carved our names into the sky

when you called, you spoke of the eden
you've lost
and the sneakers in your closet still crumbed
with the clouds we walked upon
i almost held your face as you broke

well,
we'll sit on my verandah again someday
ashes of sun-soaked regrets
and maybe i'll hold your pieces.
yeet.

Oh my gosh! How do you write such amazing things! I agree with sunny! The use of cigarettes as a sort of motif was so creative! :)

this piece has that coming of age/bittersweet for the future vibe that i adore! it’s short, but so, so visceral. you really do a great job at employing cigarettes/ashes as a device for moodiness/broken-ness. and then your footnotes happened, which was arguably the best part
