I'm cursed, but that's about to change. The Stone of Adara is right in front of me, and nobody's around. I'm going to pick it up, and destroy my and everybody else's curses by breaking the stone. It will shatter, and along with it, my curse. All I have to do is pick it up.
But something feels wrong. I feel like what I'm about to do is some sort of pain. But then I remember my teacher's words:
"Many powerful objects have protection around them. For some of the most powerful objects, the protection is psychological. It works, unless you know it's there."
The protection's there, and I know it. Now, everything makes since, and feels right. I reach out for the stone.
Suddenly the strong hands of guards pull me back. I squirm, but can't escape.
Then, I remember my teacher's most important lesson, and yell "I know Adara's hands like the back of my own!"
The guards let go of me, I run towards the stone, throw it at the ground, and it shatters.
"NOOO!!!" I hear one of the guards yell, and suddenly, they've got me in a choke, and the world is slipping away, fading...
