In honor of my 42 followers, I'm going to be hosting my very first contest! And it's a weird one. You have been warned.
A while ago, I had a dream (which I will post with the title #42dreams contest prompt) that was oddly vivid and cinematic. I always thought it would make a great book or movie. Which is where you guys come in!
Prompt 1: Turn the dream into a short story. You can change minor details, but keep the essence of the story alive. You may also choose one part of the dream and expand it instead. What happens after the characters go under the Courtyard?
Prompt 2: Choose a character from the dream (for example: the old man, Solomon, or even me, because now I am a character), and give them a backstory.
Prompt 3: Write a poem about the dream from the perspective of one of the characters. Or, you can create your own character as a bystander to the events of the dream who still lives in this same world.
RULES:
1: NO profanity or explicit content will be tolerated. Even if it's just d*mn or s*it, I will not judge the piece of there is any swearing.
2: Include the tag #42dreams in the title link the piece in the comments of this post (not the post with the dream), and put the prompt number in the footnotes.
3. DEADLINE - May 10. I will announce winners by May 17 and notify everyone on their submitted pieces.
If I get enough submissions, I'll have a first and second place for each prompt. If too many people realize my insanity and decide not to enter, I'll just award an overall first, second, and third place.
PRIZES: 1st place: A follow, 2 reviews of your choice, 5 likes of my choice, and a shout-out in my message board.
2nd place: A follow, 1 review of your choice, 2 likes of my choice, and a a shout-out in my message board.
3rd place: 5 likes of my choice and a a shout-out in my message board.

You can't just say a phrase like "evil ladies who failed to capture us" and not expect me to make them noble girlfriends with an anxious mess of a sidekick- I might've written over 3,000 words but it's a quarantine and we all cope somehow!!!
