Love your body, because you are your body, not in the sense of it being the only thing by which you are judged, but in the sense of it being the vessel for your soul and the protector of your mind.

Third Brown Girl

March 6, 2020

So I hear you like brown girls,
I’ve seen you with two so far.
Don’t remember any other girlfriends,
and I’ve been watching you
since my ninth and your thirteenth year.

So I’ve been told you said we’d have a chance,
when I was older.
It’s even been suggested that you liked me back.
The night in your room, with Star Wars action figures.
I thought maybe someday we could be something real.

But now,
You’re on your third brown girl,
And it seems like (from here,
my tree,
which is far from you and isn’t easy to see from),
You like the melanin
more than the soul within
And maybe I’m wrong,
but now you seem like a stranger,
never seen you with a white woman,
just light-skinned negro girls
who seem to flock to you.
Was I just a fetish?
That hurts.
And my family applauds you
but do those girls know,
how much your eyes like kinks and curls
and big black girls?
Draft 2, broskies
just to be clear, I’m not against mixed race relationships. But in this case it feels like the guy in question just likes black skin and not the girls inside of it. Of course, I could never know every piece of the situation and this is all just my point of view.
