“But I don't want comfort. I want God, I want poetry, I want real danger, I want freedom, I want goodness. I want sin.”

― Aldous Huxley, Brave New World

PROMPT: One Home

Between the stars we sit
lonely lovers of life,
bound to this earth
'till the reaper swings his scythe.

Then rise the teachers of humanity,
with a lowercase "h"
leading a cause worth listening to,
a chant,
to make believe we are not so alone.

Communities come to rally for whatever they deem worthy,
like busy honey bees searching for flowers.
And like honey bees,
sworn to protect the homeland
to sting whosoever invades,
a blood oath to nationalism.

Leaders preach a song of humanity,
an ode to vanity,
and from the deserts rise warriors,
never told their true purpose,
just told to kill.

To kill brethren,
fellows of humanity,
without pause.
"it is only human nature to want."
The underlining theme of today; war against fellow man.
