Heyy. So I wrote this but it needs a lot more work. Every kind of constructive criticism is very much needed and appreciated! Also, please review (or comment at least) :)

Where am I now? Why?

April 1, 2020

PROMPT: Now to Then

Walking down the busy street,
Dark and wet, yet still full of life.
At this point,
The only things chasing away the darkness that night brings
Are the cars passing by
And the street lights shining bright.
I am running back home,
Returning from dance practice
Sweat being washed away by the heavy rain.
But I don’t mind it one bit.
After all,
That’s why I moved here.
My first night here was very similar,
Rain drops falling from the sky
Onto all of my belongings,
Making my beginning in a new place
A lot harder than anyone had expected it to be.
I was lost.
I had no money to catch a taxi
Neither did I know the name of the place I was going to.
Roaming the unknown streets
At that moment
I maybe even regretted ever leaving home.
But it had to be done,
There was nothing left for me
There, in that place.
I was being called by dreams,
By the version of me I so eagerly wanted to become.
There were no more obstacles,
High school was left far behind in my memories,
And so was the old me.

This is amazing! The tone and the narration of the poem is so beautiful.
