A book's life starts with death. The death of an ancient tree.
It is then shredded, pressed, dyed, mangled beyond measure into paper.
Finally, ink, chemicals and the blood of other plants, is added.
The ink forms letters, then words. A new mix of human speech.

Thus, the new life of your characters begins with the death of where they reside.
A vicious cycle of creation from destruction.

i loved how you use language that you wouldn't typically think to use in this piece--- describing the making of paper as "the death of an ancient tree" and ink as "the blood of other plants". the first line totally captured me. the only suggestion i have is to focus on the flow; it's a bit awkward to read right now, so maybe vary the sentence structure a little more, and try reading it out loud. great work!
