Anxiety, I think, is its own type of fear. Fear of nothing and everything, and whatever falls between. I've struggled with this type of fear, struggling to find the right words. For once, the were no right words. For once, I just wrote.

You brush a hand
across your bare arm.

You feel the raised beginnings
of goosebumps
under your trembling fingers.

And you scream,
not knowing why,
but it doesn't break the growing silence.

And the only sound
is
the slow
   steady
      stagnant
beating
of your eerily calm heart.

The silence overtakes you,
enveloping you in its familiar hold.

And your hand is still brushing
your bare arm.

And now your whole body
trembles in the silence.

Wonderful work! You conveyed the emotion of fear beautifully, and I loved the slight repetition you had! Great job! Best of luck!
