Writers block is a plague and I'm infected. Hi, I'm Araw. I'm seventeen and I call myself I writer.

Message to Readers

GOD I HAVEN'T WRITTEN IN A WHILE. Okay, so I'm pretty sure no one knows me that well anymore on here. They've all either left or aren't as active anymore. So most people here are quite new to me. Still, though, I'm going to try and be more active in this community, starting with this piece, the first in a very long while. Anyways, for explanation about the poem, it's basically about being gay in a Catholic girl's school.

After School Cleaning Duty

FREE WRITING

8
The nuns like to patrol the school halls
With eagle eyes only amplified
By the thick lenses they sit behind.
In class, I’m shaken by the very possible prospect
Of their canes harshly tapping my fingers
Should they stop writing for a second.

Strangely, though, I don’t feel much fear
When you and I are together in this empty classroom
With the rays of orange sunset light spilling carelessly through the windows
And washing you all over.
I can’t help but notice how you resemble an angel
As you take my hand in yours
And whisper soft, gentle words in my ear
That weave your love into something I can feel for myself.
We could stand here, together, touching
Forever
But then we hear click-clacking of Sister Maria’s boots
And the click-clacking of her cane on the tiles.
We’re back to after-school cleaning duty in a fraction of a second.
