Roses, however so pretty they may be,
Deceive and prick with their threatening thorns.
As their petals fall off and land with a soft thud,
More layers of the rose are revealed.
They may have the scent of the fresh air at sunrise
But if disturbed from their bed of soil, will wither and die.
Touch a rose if you dare,
But its thorns have a quiet taste for blood.

The way a usually delicate and praised object was twisted and warped to be frightening and threatening was absolutely amazing.

I've developed a fear of roses now. Well done!
