The water level had reached my neck. It was brisk against my numb skin. My sister, Raneè, held my hand, her grip slowly loosening as the waves crashed over us time and time again. I tried to hold on to her but it was so hard. The tsunami was far from over and we knew deep down we wouldn’t survive this. Not this time. We’d survived the sun and the earthquakes but we were trapped now. The waves took my sister and she lost her grip on me. It took me under seconds later. I was gone. Darkness surrounded me.
