Gender Pay Gap

March 18, 2016

Why do men earn more money than women who are doing the same work?!
Women are working the same jobs as men are but, men are being paid more for doing that job. Researches found that women stay home from work more often than men which might explain why men are earning more.
There are different reasons on why women don’t get paid enough but, here are some reasons why they should. Hard work is not only shown at their job but at home. Most women need the money to support their families and raise their kids. According to Minnesota Public Radio “No, paid leave isn't purely a women's issue, but it is true that with more moms working (not to mention the rise of single parenting, usually by moms), families need someone to mind the kids. Two-thirds of children live in homes where all parents work, as the White House reported last year, up from 40 percent in 1970.
WPTV ( West Palm Beach News) said that” Researchers found in 22 out of 28 developed countries studied, women work longer hours than men every week.”  So why are women still paid less? From the research that I did most of what I read was ‘Women work more hours.”  If Women work more hours they deserve to be paid the same as men do.  According to U.S News “Women today are more likely than men to complete college and attend graduate school, and make up nearly half of the country's total workforce. Yet past gaps in education and experience appear to be contributing to a persistent pay gap between the sexes, a new report shows.
The report from the White House Council of Economic Advisers shows that although women are increasingly becoming more educated and make up a larger portion of the country's workforce, they consistently earn less than men, even when they have similar levels of education.
Counterclaim:“Are women paid less because they choose lower-paying jobs?”Refute:
That’s not always the case. “Women today are more likely than men to complete college and attend graduate school.” which should result in them having a good job with a high payment.
There should be some changes made on gender pay gap.  Both genders work the same amount of hours. Some women need money for to raise their families which is hard to do when men have the larger pay. Maternity leave shouldn’t be the thing that affects their payment. There should be new laws for equal wages between for both genders.
