Fall Of Grace

By: Janna Brown

They wear masks to add to their facades and cloaks to cover up their shame.
Like thieves they'd lie and cheat and steal to win some imaginary game.
They send a strong wrong message to our youth,
Because it's so much easier to lie than to tell the truth.
"It's in our children’s best interest." they say,
Never once thinking of who they are at the end of the day.
When they came across a good and honest man, they wouldn’t look him in the eyes
And if they spoke at all to him, they only told him lies.
Because he was a good and honest man,
Which was something they just couldn't understand
And because his morals were high,
They manipulated him without a blink of an eye.
Then they all just stood by and watched him when he decided it was time to go,
Because integrity was one word they would never know.

Message to Readers

Who are you at the end of the day?

Honestly, I loved this piece so much. I liked how the message was clear but also felt individual to the reader.

I want to know how this happened, what started it all. this poem is so amazing! It truly makes you think about who you are t the end of the day.
