and see the sights
the signs
the people
the ones you'll never know

look across,
look across
to the other side of the street
and see the lives
little kids
grown men
standing under streetlamps smiling

stand within,
stand within
the crowd that crosses daily
and see their eyes
their minds
a million shadows passing by
unknown
