The Eclipse

March 12, 2019

He caught a glimpse of her early one morning.
The moon had yet to set and the sun had yet to rise.
In a moment of hopeless forlorning,
They starred into each other’s eyes.
To him she seemed like a distant dream
And to her he seemed to be a king.
He waited each dawn to see her on her sunbeam,
And for him, she'd do the same thing.
They never spoke a word,
They would only smile and wave.
They were too far away from each other to be heard,
So a smile was all they gave.
Then one day the man on the moon's loneliness was too much to bear,
And so was the woman's on the sun.
So they took a lover's dare,
And the sun and moon became one.
They grabbed each other’s fingertips
And all time froze.
